The Original Castlevania gets the NES to SNES treatment with lots of extras too

Games Romhacks SNES

The game that started this epic series gets a massive uplift. The difference between NES and SNES is like the difference between Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger in the movie “Twins”, Arnie being the SNES of course.

Now the ROM hacker known as Rumbleminze has brought Castlevania from the NES to the SNES. It’s not just a basic upgrade that will remove slowdown and reduce flicker. This hack has turned Castlevania into the new definitive way to slay Dracula and his minions.

This massive upgrade includes:

3 Difficulty Levels
14 palette options
6 MSU-1 Soundtrack
Options Use A or X to throw subweapons Swap between 2 subweapons
Rumble support (SNES LRG Rumble Controller required)

The easier difficulty has been ported from the Famicom cart version. It includes among other things, extra lives, hearts and no knockbacks.

I personally do not own a SNES any longer and do not have the SNES LRG Rumble Controller. I am however waiting for implementation of SNES rumble co come to the MiSTer FPGA core. Which is currently being looked into. Hopefully in the future I can use an 8bitdo 2.4gh controller to experience rumble SNES.
