Keio Flying Squadron 2 (originally Keiou Yuugekitai – Katsugeki-hen in Japan) now has two new fan patches that bring English-friendly options to the superior NTSC version of the game.
An English PAL Experience, Without the Downsides
One patch transforms the Japanese version into something nearly identical to the European release: full English text, English voiceovers, movies, and sound effects. It even includes support for English CD audio, such as the title screen jingle and chapter-ending narration — provided you replace a few specific audio tracks manually.
The big advantage? It all runs at 60Hz, without the audio cutoff issues that occur when playing the PAL version on NTSC hardware.
Prefer the Japanese Voices? There’s an Option for That
For those who want the original Japanese voice acting and cutscenes but still appreciate English text, the second patch delivers exactly that. It keeps the Japanese audio intact while swapping in English menus, dialogue, and interface text. No audio replacement is required.
Why It Matters
The PAL version has long been the only way to experience the game in English, but it came at the cost of slower 50Hz gameplay and technical quirks. These new patches offer the best of both worlds: the speed and smoothness of NTSC with the accessibility of English localization—plus your choice of dub.
