The source code for the SlaveDriver Engine, which powered the 1996 Sega Saturn version of PowerSlave (also known as Exhumed), has been released under the GPLv3 license.

Originally developed by Lobotomy Software, the engine was notable for pushing 3D performance on the Saturn with games like PowerSlave, Quake, and Duke Nukem 3D.

The newly published source code was preserved by Ezra Dreisbach, one of the original developers, and is now available on both GitHub and the Internet Archive. While the release does not include game assets (which remain copyrighted), it provides the community with a look at how one of the Saturn’s most impressive 3D engines was built.

This release provides a rare opportunity to study the technology behind one of the Sega Saturn’s most advanced 3D engines.
