A brand-new ROM hack, Pokémon Royal Sapphire, has officially launched, offering a heavily enhanced and reimagined version of Pokémon Sapphire. Inspired by hacks like Renegade Platinum for its difficulty and quality-of-life upgrades, and Pokémon Gaia for story expansion, this project aims to make Hoenn feel both familiar and brand new.
Royal Sapphire keeps Generation 3 mechanics intact, no physical/special split, no Fairy type — but overhauls almost everything else. Expect a new storyline, redesigned maps, custom trainer battles, regional forms, new Pokémon, fresh tilesets, and expanded Team Aqua plotlines featuring Kyogre and Lugia.
