Taki Udon has announced a new feature for the SuperStation One, a consolized MiSTer FPGA system styled after the PS One. In a recent update, support was added for loading Sega CD games directly from disc, without the need to dump them first.
According to Taki, the new functionality is working “very well,” with a short video showcasing Sonic CD booting directly from disc. He also mentioned plans to test Sega Saturn support in the future.
This builds on an earlier update from July, where PS1 games were successfully loaded from disc using the same method. While copying games to SD or SSD is still recommended for performance and convenience, this new feature is a promising step toward more flexible game loading.
