Web-Based ROM Manager ROMM Hits Version 4.1.3

Emulators

The popular self-hosted game library manager ROMM has just received a new update, bringing the project to version 4.1.3. While the latest release is a smaller one, it improves how ROMM handles duplicate titles by preferring lower IDs when matching games with the same name, helping to keep collections cleaner and better organized.

What is ROMM?

For those unfamiliar, ROMM is a web-based ROM manager designed to give retro game libraries the same streamlined experience as a modern media server. Much like Plex or Jellyfin for movies, ROMM lets you upload, organize, and browse your game collection from a clean browser interface.

Some of its key features include:

  • Metadata scraping – Automatically fetches box art, descriptions, and details.
  • Browser play support – For many classic 8- and 16-bit systems, games can be launched directly in your web browser through RetroArch’s libretro cores.
  • Wide system support – Compatible with a variety of platforms, from the NES and Game Boy to later systems like PlayStation.
  • Integration – Frequently used with setups like RetroNAS, EmulationStation-DE, or Batocera, but can also run standalone on a NAS, PC, or server.

4.1.0+ Requires a config file

Since version 4.1.0, ROMM requires a valid config.yml file to run. Users setting up or upgrading should ensure this file is mounted before launching the app. An example configuration is provided on the project’s GitHub.z

ROMM 4.1.3 is available now on GitHub with source code and Docker support for easy deployment.
