He-Man Returns: Bitmap Bureau Announces Retro Brawler for 2026

Games

Bitmap Bureau, the studio known for retro-inspired titles like Xeno Crisis, Final Vendetta, and Terminator 2D, has officially announced a brand-new He-Man game. Titled He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction, the game was unveiled during Gamescom 2025 Opening Night Live.

This announcement hits with extra nostalgia for me. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe was one of the TV shows I grew up watching, and my shelves were filled with the toys—from He-Man himself to Skeletor, Battle Cat, and plenty more. Seeing the franchise return in video game form after all these years feels like a direct throwback to those childhood afternoons spent glued to the screen and staging battles on the living room floor.

In the game, players will be able to take control of He-Man, Teela, and Man-At-Arms as they fight across Eternia. Battle Cat will also make an appearance, bringing even more of the series’ iconic energy into the action. Standing in the way are classic villains Skeletor and Evil-Lyn, along with their forces. The adventure spans twelve stages, filled with special moves, unique abilities, and magical attacks reminiscent of arcade brawlers like Golden Axe. Developers have also hinted at “more” characters, possibly even a fourth playable hero, though nothing beyond the core cast has been confirmed just yet.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction is planned for release in 2026 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. While the official trailer simply ends with “Coming Soon,” the press release makes clear that pre-orders—both digital and physical—will open in early 2026.

It looks like a faithful revival of a world I grew up with, and one that promises to blend nostalgia with the energy of a modern retro brawler.
