The 1992 Super Famicom platformer Psycho Dream is making a comeback. Originally released only in Japan, the game is finally getting an official English localization on modern platforms. Ratalaika Games will be handling the re-release for PC (Steam), PlayStation 4/5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, with a launch window set for 2025.
Developed by Edia and published by Riot (a Hudson Soft subsidiary) back in the day, Psycho Dream stood out with its surreal atmosphere, anime-inspired visuals, and fast-paced action. A North American release was once planned under the title Dream Probe, but it was ultimately cancelled, leaving the game Japan-exclusive for decades.
This marks the first time Psycho Dream is being officially translated into English. However, fans of the series may know that a fan translation patch has been available for some time, offering English-speaking players an unofficial way to experience the game. That patch can be found here.
