Fans of the Cowboy Bebop franchise have reason to celebrate — SONICMAN69 has released a complete English translation patch for the PlayStation 2 title Cowboy Bebop: Tsuioku no Serenade. The patch dropped on August 25th, perfectly timed to mark the 20th anniversary of the game’s original release in Japan.
After previously working on the fan translation of Detective Conan: Legacy of the British Empire, SONICMAN69 has turned his attention to this classic Bandai anime brawler, bringing the Bebop universe to life for English-speaking fans for the very first time.
Known to many as “Serenade of Reminiscence”, and sometimes referred to by IGN as “Serenade of Remembrance”, the game follows Spike, Faye, Jet, and Ed as they hunt for a space pirate’s treasure tied to a mysterious song called Diamonds. Naturally, a shadowy organization complicates their mission in classic Bebop style.
Interestingly, the game was originally slated for a U.S. release. An English demo even made its debut at E3 2003, and pre-orders went live. But for reasons never explained, the release was abruptly cancelled, leaving this stylish title as a Japan-only experience — until now.
With a 100% English translation of all text, graphics, and credits, this patch finally makes the game fully accessible for fans around the world. Whether you’re a longtime Bebop enthusiast or new to the series, this patch breathes new life into a long-overlooked gem of the PS2 era.
