New Bubble Bobble Roguelike Game Incoming 🫧

Games

Growing up in the arcades Bubble Bobble was a classic game that really stood the test of time. From its character design to dark backgrounds and bright characters and platforms, oh yeah, it’s catchy soundtrack too, which by the way, makes an excellent ringtone. Come on, you can hear the intro theme in your head right now, can’t you?

Now let’s talk about Bubble Bobble: Sugar Dungeons. A game that’s bringing back Bubble Bobble but with a Roguelike twist. In this game it seems like it’s less about memorising patterns and more about learning mechanics. As no two play throughs are the same, enemy placements are always randomised. You still primarily use your bubbles as your weapon, that you pop to deal damage to enemies. You pick up power ups and become stronger along your journey as well meeting powerful and tricky bosses.

The game is designed with replayability in mind, I guess it’s kinda like the Bubble Bobble version of Dead Cells, which is definitely not a bad thing.

This spin on the classic Bubble Bobble formula looks like it could pay off, and we at Metal Game Solid are looking forward it’s release, which is due out on November the 27th 2025 for PC via Steam and on PlayStation 5. Even though Sugar Dungeons is a single player game the release comes bundled with Bubble Symphony in which you can play two players. Bubble Symphony was a TAITO F3 System arcade game that was also ported to the SEGA Saturn, it’s the console version that’s expected with this release.
