The Discovery

Thanks to some Eagle eyed members of the FPGA Gaming community a video that was just added to the Analogue 3D Press archive over on analogue.co has surfaced. The video shows the cartridge of 1080° Snowboarding being inserted into the console, the console being powered on and then the game running on a connected display.

The Timing

The question does come to mind regarding the the timing of this video. As in the last few days, ModRetro who are making the M64 (their take on the N64), have shown their core running, which has been confirmed as an updated version of the MiSTer’s N64 core. As well as that, Taki Udon from Retro Remake has shown the upcoming Super Station One MiSTer FPGA running N64 carts too. The main thing Analogue has going for the 3D when it releases is that it has it’s own original core as well as the ability to output in 4K.

The Big Question

The question does arise, how much will the delays that the 3D has experienced, cost Analogue? As we now have multiple options on the horizon for an modern N64 that can play your carts.

The Consumer

What are your thoughts? Have ordered a 3D and how do you feel about the new challengers that have entered the scene? Will you be sticking with Analogue? Or will you be picking another device as your main N64 daily driver?
