8BitDo Celebrates 40 Years of the NES with Retro-Inspired Peripherals

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Nintendo Entertainment System, 8BitDo has unveiled a limited-edition “NES40” collection featuring three premium devices: a wireless controller, a mechanical keyboard, and a compact Bluetooth speaker — all styled after Nintendo’s iconic grey-and-red aesthetic.

The highlight is the Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller – NES 40th Edition, limited to just 1,985 units worldwide. It combines nostalgic NES design cues with modern tech, including Hall Effect triggers, TMR joysticks, multi-platform support, and a retro receiver that even works with the original console.

Next up is the Retro 68 Keyboard – NES 40th Edition, a high-end mechanical keyboard with a full-metal body, hot-swappable switches, and a massive battery offering up to 300 hours of use. It’s aimed at both collectors and enthusiasts willing to pay a premium for its craftsmanship.

Rounding out the lineup is the Retro Cube 2 Speaker – N Edition, a compact stereo Bluetooth speaker that offers up to 30 hours of playback and a matching retro-inspired dock.

Alongside the main trio, 8BitDo has discounted other NES-inspired accessories such as the Retro Receiver, themed keycap sets, and mechanical numpads.

The NES40 lineup launches between November 2025 and early 2026, and pre-orders are already live through 8BitDo’s official store. With limited quantities available, collectors might want to act fast before these nostalgic tributes disappear into history.

You can pre-order the products on the official 8bitdo website.
