Developer Falco Girgis shared an impressive milestone on social media, showing a hardware capture of Esppiral rendering a scene from Final Fantasy X running natively on an actual Sega Dreamcast.
In the short clip, Yuna can be seen on-screen, smoothly animated with authentic lighting and shading effects, proving the Dreamcast’s hardware is still capable of remarkable feats when pushed by modern tools.
While it’s unclear whether this build is running on a custom engine or through another experimental method, the footage appears to be genuine Dreamcast hardware output. Whatever the case, it’s a striking demonstration of how much power Sega’s final console still holds more than two decades after its release.
This achievement once again highlights the creativity and dedication of the Dreamcast community, continuing to explore the limits of the system and imagining what could have been if titles like Final Fantasy X had ever made their way to Sega’s platform.
