Everything runs fast and responsive, with sharp visuals and clean performance. Girgis says the project is about 95% complete, with most of the recent work focusing on lighting effects and small visual details to make each level shine.

Behind the scenes, the developer is fine-tuning the way the game interacts with the Dreamcast’s hardware, ensuring it runs as close to the original as possible. In simple terms, it’s a noteworthy technical achievement that highlights the ongoing creativity of the retro development scene.

If development continues at this pace, Star Fox 64 on Dreamcast could become a solid and fully playable fan port. It’s an impressive technical effort that shows what dedicated fans can still achieve on Sega’s classic console.

  1. Funny how the mouths of all the characters are moving similar in a very fast way haha
Never really been into Star Fox, maybe I’ll give it a go when it drops because I’m ‘modding’ my DreamCast currently (well, waiting for the parts to arrive haha).
