GBA Fix! Mario Kart Super Circuit Display is Now Smoother Than You Remember!

Game Boy Advance

Mario Kart: Super Circuit for the Game Boy Advance features a mixed frame rate presentation. Although the character sprites, backgrounds, and other on-screen elements update at a smooth 60 frames per second (fps), the track rotation itself operates at a technically lower rate of 30 fps. This represents a reduction in fluidity compared to the original Super Nintendo (SNES) version, which maintained 60 fps for all elements.

A new patch is available that now makes the whole experience a 60 FPS one. This results in a great user experience for a timeless classic.

  1. So wait – the math was being updated at 60fps, but the rendering wasn’t? If it can render the updated characters at 60, wouldn’t that mean this patch should work on an actual GBA?
