A new fan made Genesis ROM hack, Alleys of Anime 2, has been released, replacing the original Streets of Rage 2 roster with four iconic anime characters. The hack blends classic beat em up gameplay with a crossover lineup pulled from some of the most popular series of the 90s.
Players can fight through the city as Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho, Erza Scarlet from Fairy Tail, Sailor Mars from Sailor Moon and Android 18 from Dragon Ball Z. Each character has been rebalanced to match the unique traits of their original counterparts while still fitting the flow and pacing of the Streets of Rage 2 engine.
Alleys of Anime 2 also includes updated visuals, recolored stages and a new presentation style inspired by retro anime aesthetics. It is designed as a lighthearted tribute that brings multiple fandoms together in a nostalgic 16 bit package.
