Aeon Genesis has released an English translation for Splatterworld, an obscure and previously unreleased prototype connected to Namco’s Splatterhouse series. The game is a quirky RPG spinoff in the style of Wanpaku Graffiti, mixing cute visuals with playful horror themes. Originally developed for the Famicom in 1993, it was never commercially released and only surfaced online this Halloween.
We covered the game when it first appeared, noting how unusual it was to see a brand-new Splatterhouse-related title suddenly emerge after more than thirty years. Now, Aeon Genesis has completed a full English patch, making the prototype fully playable from start to finish.
The translator includes a content warning regarding several historical figures portrayed as summonable spirits. These elements were left unchanged for the sake of preservation, but players are informed upfront about their inclusion.
For fans of Splatterhouse, translations and unreleased curiosities, this is a rare opportunity to experience a forgotten piece of Namco history. The patch is available now, along with checksum details to ensure compatibility with the correct NES ROM.
