Dreamcast Games

A notable technical achievement for the retro scene has surfaced, as Super Mario 64 is now running on the Sega Dreamcast via a native homebrew port. The project was developed by jnmartin, building on the decompiled source of the original game.

Development on the Dreamcast port has been ongoing for several years, with early work dating back to the early 2020s as tools and performance gradually improved. With the latest release, the project is now considered finished, featuring full-speed gameplay, proper audio and visuals, and VMU save support.

The work was recently highlighted by Falco Girgis, It’s another clear example of how modern reverse engineering and community-driven development keep dreamcast hardware relevant, even decades after its commercial lifespan ended.
