Ymir, a new open-source Sega Saturn emulator by StrikerX3, has released its latest update: version 0.1.6, bringing major improvements in compatibility and performance.
Launched in 2025, Ymir focuses on speed, usability, and accuracy—especially for retro gamers using modern PCs or handhelds. The new version introduces:
- TATE (vertical) display mode
- Low input lag and improved frame pacing
- Rewind, turbo mode, and save states
- A new compatibility list showing ~60% of tested games fully playable
While still early in development, Ymir is gaining attention for its clean UI, responsive controls, and potential support for CHD and internal upscaling in future versions.
