If you follow me on YouTube, you’ll know that I already called the Game of the Year as Earthion by Ancient Corporation and Bitwave Games. What made this game so special is that one of the developers is non other than the living legend Yuzo Koshiro himself. This is the guy behind the awesome Streets of Rage 2 soundtrack as well as countless other SEGA classics. The game is currently available on Steam for the very reasonable price of £14.99 in the UK and €17,99 in the rest of Europe. Earthion will also release on all major consoles in due time, but hey, we can play it on the PC right now. The game itself is a horizontal Shmup that is reminiscent of the 16-Bit Mega Drive/Genesis era. I type this article humbly from work, while my partner in crime Anime0t4ku is at home playing away at this, and he says he loves it. I’ll be playing this as soon as I’m free later today, but for now wanted to bring you this news.
As well as playing the game Anime0t4ku had a look at the local files to see if there was a Mega Drive ROM included, and sure enough the ROM is there (see pics below).

We tried the ROM both on the MiSTer FPGA’s Mega Drive core and via some popular software emulators on the PC, and gave the sad news that Earthion did not load up. The bin file included is a encrypted archive that contains the roms, unless the archive is being decrypted the rom can’t be loaded on any FPGA device or Emulator.
