ARMSX2 v1.0 Brings PS2 Emulation to ARM Devices

Emulators

ARMSX2 is a free and open-source PlayStation 2 emulator for ARM devices, based on both PCSX2 and PCSX2_ARM64. Its goal is to replicate the PS2’s hardware on ARM platforms using a recompiler that currently operates through x86-to-ARM64 translation. Native ARM64 support is planned for future updates as development continues.

With today’s version 1.0 release, ARMSX2 officially brings PS2 emulation to Android handhelds and tablets, offering a new way to enjoy classic PlayStation 2 titles on mobile hardware. While only the Android version is currently available, builds for iOS, Linux, and Windows are expected to follow later.

Although the emulator is still based on an older PCSX2 branch, ARMSX2 marks a promising step toward modern, open-source PS2 emulation on ARM devices. Performance may vary depending on the game and hardware, but the foundation is solid and expected to improve over time.

Version 1.0 is available now through the project’s GitHub page, with a Google Play Store release expected soon.
