iiSU Public Alpha v0.0.4.1 Released With Visual and Usability Improvements

Emulators

iiSU has kicked off 2026 with the release of Public Alpha v0.0.4.1, an update that focuses heavily on polish, usability, and visual consistency rather than headline grabbing new systems. It is a smaller step forward, but one that clearly aims to make daily use smoother and more refined.

One of the most noticeable changes is the improved ROM browsing experience. Icons have been cleaned up, unnecessary backgrounds removed, and default backgrounds refreshed, giving the interface a more modern and consistent look. Users who like to customize can now go further than before, with expanded options for personalizing ROM names and support for importing and exporting both static and animated backgrounds.

On the functional side, iiSU now includes an in app auto update feature, reducing friction when new builds are released. Soundbite support has also been added when hovering over ROMs, a small touch that adds extra feedback while browsing. Navigation has seen major fixes across almost all areas of iiSU DS Mode, addressing one of the more common pain points of earlier alpha versions. There is also a new option to personalize the RetroAchievements trophy icon.

Overall, this update is about making iiSU feel cleaner, smoother, and more pleasant to use on a day to day basis. According to the developers, attention will shift next toward improved scraping, a refined settings UI, and further aesthetic upgrades in the upcoming v0.0.5 release.
