LaunchBox has rolled out version 13.23, and it’s another solid update for retro gaming setups. This release focuses on smoother performance, more customization, and a cleaner overall experience.
One of the biggest highlights is the addition of themeable screensavers in Big Box. It’s a great way to showcase your library or browse your collection while your system idles. The switch to a new FFMPEG-based video engine is another big step forward, replacing VLC for smoother and more reliable playback.
The Welcome Wizard has also been refreshed, making it easier for both new users and returning fans to get up and running. On top of that, there’s automatic game progress tracking, the ability to customize what media is downloaded during imports, and some nice visual updates with new icons for GameCube, Game Boy Advance, and PICO-8.
As usual, the update brings plenty of bug fixes and performance improvements, from better sorting options to stability tweaks that make the whole experience feel more polished.
Overall, version 13.23 is a great update that keeps LaunchBox moving forward. If you haven’t updated yet, now’s a good time to do it and check out all the new features for yourself.
