Introduction
Forgotten Fragments is a puzzle-platformer developed by Binary Phoenix, arriving on Steam on 24 September 2025. On Steam, the game is priced at €12,99.
The game blends nostalgic pixel art with puzzle-solving and exploration. Unlike many indie platformers that rely heavily on action, this one puts brains before reflexes. It features both a full single-player campaign and a dedicated local co-op mode, making it accessible whether you’re playing alone or with a friend.
Gameplay & Design
The main hook revolves around using glowing spheres to light torches, unlock doors, and solve increasingly complex puzzles. At first, it feels simple, but later levels introduce clever twists that force you to think several steps ahead. Co-op deserves special mention: puzzles are designed with teamwork in mind, which makes for some fun “aha!” moments when you finally figure something out together.
The handcrafted levels are varied, though not every one hits the same high note. Some puzzles lean into repetition, and the narrative that ties everything together doesn’t leave much of an impression. Still, hidden collectibles and secret levels add a welcome layer of replayability and encourage you to explore beyond the obvious path.
Visuals & Atmosphere
The pixel art is charming and clear, with environments that strike a nice balance between retro style and modern polish. The nostalgic presentation gives the game personality, and while the story is minimal, the atmosphere makes up for it with charm and simplicity.
Fun Factor
I had a good time with Forgotten Fragments. While it isn’t flawless, some puzzles can feel repetitive and the story is forgettable but the mix of clever design, secret content, and co-op fun kept me hooked. It’s the kind of game you dip back into not just to progress, but to improve your times and hunt for what you might have missed.
Conclusion
Forgotten Fragments is a solid puzzle-platformer that balances accessibility with clever design. The co-op mode is a real highlight, turning problem-solving into a shared experience, while the single-player campaign still offers plenty of satisfying challenges. Even though the story isn’t particularly deep and a few puzzles can feel familiar, the game’s polish and replay value make it stand out. I genuinely enjoyed my time with it and think puzzle-platformer fans will find a lot to like here.
