We’ve been talking a lot about how good the recent updates to the MiSTer FPGA’s NES core have been. The changes were added to the Analogue Pocket core courtesy of Terminator2K2 (a tweak of agg23‘s port), but there were some compromises in the form of missing mappers. The good news now is that the latest revision by Terminator2K2 includes all the mappers.
The latest version includes two cores, which are automatically selected via the Chip32 virtual machine to support all mappers.
No NSF (the NES Sound Format) player or FDS (Famicom Disk System) support is included.
The system automatically selects the correct core based on the mapper.
In short, you pick a game, and it automatically loads the right core, essentially combining all MiSTer NES cores into two cores.
