Recently, the SEGA Saturn core for the MiSTer FPGA has received a lot of praise for how accurate it is in being close to the original hardware. It’s without a doubt one of my favourite cores on the MiSTer. It is, in fact, how I got to grow a new appreciation for the system.
Below, the X account Pirate_Nation shared a screenshot from an article posted on SEGA Saturn Shiro last month, which brought a lot more eyes to the MiSTer core.
The article shown in the screenshot in the above X post can be found here.
Well, it turns out the developer of the core, Sergiy Dvodnenko, has something to say about that. He responded to a quote retweet from Jotego, another FPGA core developer, saying, “That’s not entirely true. It’s still far from complete accuracy.”
In conclusion, while many believe the core to be as accurate as the original hardware, the developer of the core holds themselves to a higher standard than anyone else. This shows humility and the willingness to comb out even the smallest imperfections. We look forward to any and all updates the core receives.
