Jotego’s Progress on Cores and Framework

Jotego has released a status report detailing ongoing work across several arcade games and the NEO-GEO Pocket + Color core.

Framework & Handheld Updates

A primary focus for Jotego’s team is the implementation of a NeoGeo Pocket game saving feature.

  • Dedicated Development: One team member has been working exclusively on this feature for several weeks.
  • Long-term Impact: Once integrated into the standard framework, this save functionality will simplify the implementation of save states and data persistence for future handheld and console cores.

Arcade Protection Decryption

Work continues on bypasses for the proprietary protection chips found in Konami classics.

  • Current Projects: Efforts are centralized on Sunset Riders and Asterix.
  • Collaboration: Jotego’s team is currently building upon the foundational work established by developer Furrtek to bring these titles to a functional state.

New Core Development: CPS3 and SETA

Jotego is balancing long-term projects with near-term releases to expand the MiSTer library.

  • Capcom Play System 3 (CPS3): Jotego has officially begun work on CPS3 core files. While currently in a private repository, this marks a major milestone for the platform.
  • SETA Chipset (Caliber .50): To provide a new release soon, Jotego has resumed work on the Caliber .50 core.
    • Technical Status: With schematic assistance from Skutis, the core currently boots and displays graphics, though visual and audio issues are still being resolved.
    • Expansion: This core will eventually enable a variety of other titles utilizing the SETA chipset.
    • Timeline: Jotego estimates approximately one week of additional work before the core reaches a stable beta state.
