Rumble Support Comes to MiSTer FPGA SNES core

MiSTer FPGA

The recent SNES rumble controller paired with Doom received a lot of praise from the Retro gaming community. All reviewers spoke very highly of the game and the controller.

The good thing is the rumble tech used by LRG is open source, and it didn’t take long for the MiSTer community to implement it into the SNES core. Although Doom is currently not available, you can play other games such as Star Fox and Castlevania (NES2SNES port) that support rumble. Keep in mind  that you’ll need specific patched ROMs in order to activate this feature.

The main takeaway here is, you can experience rumble on SNES games using any controller that supports rumble, such as a Dual Shock 4, 8Bitdo Ultimate USB C, Xbox Series/One, to name just a few.

Check the links below for the GitHub of the core, which currently requires an unstable MiSTer main to run. There’s also a compiled version of the core available on the MiSTer FPGA discord server. I have left an invite to the server along with a link to the core as well. Have fun.
