The developer behind the Castlevania SotN ROM hack “Rondo of the Night” is working on a standalone game, which is a spinoff from the world of SotN, it’s not a ROM hack this time but is instead a Windows PC game. I had the chance to try an earlier build and my initial thoughts were that it’s a very ambitious and excellent project. Since then the developer has made heaps of progress and they’ve been sharing videos of their progress with me. Just like in Rondo of the Night, Symphony of Blood has you controlling Richter as a playable character. The game uses the some neat trick with the visuals, and the lighting in particular looks badass. We’ll keep you guys updated. Oh yeah, and just like their previous work, Richter will be able to level up and use a variety of items and weapons. This feels like something Konami should be giving us, but as they aren’t, it’s great to to see dedicated members of the community taking matters into their own hands. The developer does not use social media a lot, but you can have a look at their profile on RomHacking.net, they are known as Mazen.
PS – Check out the soundtrack too, it’s using tracks from other games too, so SOUND ON for the vids.
