Pixel Pusher Games has announced Chords, a new 16 bit visual novel for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis and PC. The project takes clear inspiration from Snatcher on the Sega Mega CD, capturing its gritty cyberpunk atmosphere while presenting an original story set in a 90s influenced post cyberpunk world.
The developers describe Chords as a mix of Snatcher, Space Quest and Monkey Island, focusing on character driven storytelling, modern themes and a narrative filled with twists. The game features 16 bit pixel art created by Daniel H, known for his work across Mega Drive/Genesis and Atari Lynx projects, and a chiptune soundtrack composed by SuperJet Spade.
Chords aims to deliver a full visual novel experience built with retro hardware in mind, combining classic adventure influences with new ideas. The game is currently in development for Sega Mega Drive/Genesis and PC.
