The Nintendo 64 classic F-Zero X has reached a major milestone, now sitting at 97.25% decompiled according to decomp.dev.
The project, tracked publicly on decomp.dev, shows that nearly the entire game’s codebase has been successfully reverse engineered into human-readable source code. With just a small percentage remaining, the finish line is clearly in sight.
Decompilation projects like this aim to recreate the original source code from retail game binaries, allowing for deeper research, preservation, and long-term accessibility. Once fully matched, the codebase opens the door for native ports to other systems, making it possible to run the game outside of emulation on modern hardware.
