Infinity, the long-lost Game Boy Color RPG, finally opens for pre-orders on September 30th, 2025 through Incube8 Games.
Originally developed from 1999 to 2001 by Affinix Software, Infinity was designed to push Nintendo’s handheld to its absolute limits. But as the market shifted to the Game Boy Advance, the project was canceled in 2002 and became one of retro gaming’s most famous “what-ifs.” An unfinished ROM surfaced in 2016, keeping interest alive, and in 2021 a Kickstarter campaign raised over CA$ 370,000 to bring the game back. Four years later, Infinity has been completed and is finally ready for release.
The story follows a disgraced knight caught between two warring nations as an ancient evil corrupts the land. Featuring five playable characters, a deep tactical battle system, more than fifteen hours of gameplay, and over thirty areas to explore, Infinity offers the kind of ambitious RPG experience rarely seen on the Game Boy Color. The script spans over 3,000 lines, rivaling early Final Fantasy titles, and an atmospheric 8-bit soundtrack — with new music composed by Yuzo Koshiro — helps bring the world to life.
The physical edition comes complete with a sealed box, clear gray cartridge, instruction booklet, sticker sheet, cartridge protector, and even a silkscreened PCB featuring artwork. A free demo is available now, giving players a taste of a project that has taken more than two decades to finally become reality.
Pre-orders begin September 30th via Incube8 Games.
