Reported by Kuwabara357 on X, Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 was mentioned during a Metal Gear Production Hotline presentation at Tokyo Game Show. Producer Noriaki Okamura confirmed that the collection is indeed in development, though it will “take a little more time” before more details are revealed.
Okamura explained that since the first release was titled Volume 1, it’s natural for fans to expect a follow-up, and reassured players:
“As we’ve repeated several times, we are making it. The project is moving forward properly, and we believe it’s shaping up to be something enjoyable. Please wait just a bit more, more information is coming.”
No release date has been announced, but Okamura emphasized that the team is balancing development, meaning patience will be needed before we see which titles make the cut.
In addition, Konami addressed the possibility of a Metal Gear Solid 1 remake. While not officially announced, Okamura acknowledged that it would be the hardest game in the series to reimagine, but expressed that the team feels ready for the challenge. Importantly, such a project wouldn’t be a strict 1:1 remake, hinting at a fresh creative approach.
With Master Collection Vol. 2 in production and talks of revisiting Shadow Moses in a new way, the future of Metal Gear looks promising, and fans may not have to wait too long before learning what’s next.
That said, with Metal Gear Solid being my favorite game of all time, the sentence that it wouldn’t be a 1:1 remake scares me a little bit. I was not a big fan of The Twin Snakes, and I hope any new version of MGS1 stays true to the tone, pacing, and atmosphere that made the PlayStation original so special.
