The World of Neon Inferno
Three decades from now, New York City has fractured into a warzone with no defined frontlines. Criminal syndicates have seized control of four boroughs, locked in a vicious power struggle against one another and a deeply corrupt NYPD. Into this volatile vacuum steps a fledgling crime family fighting for survival, and you are their ultimate instrument. As an assassin, your missions will drag you through the extremes of this hyper-metropolitan dystopia, from the fire-swept slums of the Bronx where gangs wage open war, to the walled, neon sanctuaries of Inner Manhattan, where the elite idle in luxury, blissfully ignorant of the agony just outside their gates.
Mechanically, the game delivers a dynamic fusion of side-scrolling action and gallery-shooting combat. Reminiscent of a marriage between Contra and Wild Guns, players must manage threats in both the foreground and background amidst a glorious, 32-bit sci-fi cityscape. Whether tackling the campaign alone or with a friend in local co-op, the experience is designed to be a satisfying test of resilience, offering everything from an accessible playthrough to a gruelling, old-school “1-credit-clear” arcade mode. Neon Inferno marks the second major release from Zenovia Interactive, the globally distributed team behind the acclaimed Steel Assault.
