Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound on Switch Capped at 30 FPS And Still Suffers Performance Issues

Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound has launched to strong reviews across most platforms, but the Nintendo Switch version has received criticism for its technical performance. While the game is officially capped at 30 frames per second on Switch, players have reported noticeable slowdowns during intense action and visual shimmering throughout gameplay.

These issues impact the game’s fast-paced combat and platforming, which rely heavily on tight timing and smooth animations. The shimmering effect—likely caused by resolution scaling or sub-pixel rendering—can be distracting both in handheld mode and when docked.

On other platforms such as PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, Ragebound runs at a smooth 60 FPS, delivering a much more consistent experience. There are currently no official plans for a free Switch 2 update or Switch 2 version meaning the game is running on 30 FPS on the Switch 2 via backwards compatibility.

Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is available now on all major platforms, with physical editions for PS5 and Switch set to release in September.
