A brand-new fan-made remaster of the original Super Mario Bros. just made its debut with a reveal trailer posted by JoeMama on YouTube. Titled simply Super Mario Bros. Remastered, the project appears to be a upgraded version of the iconic 1985 NES classic.
However, it remains uncertain whether this is a real game or just a visual mock-up. The YouTube description links to a Discord server, but there currently isn’t much additional information available there either.
Fan Projects and Nintendo: A Familiar Dance
As always with fan-made Nintendo content, legal takedowns remain a risk. Nintendo has a long history of shutting down high-profile fan games that use its IP. Whether Super Mario Bros. Remastered will evolve into a full release or fade out as a concept demo remains to be seen.
