Power Rangers It’s Morphin Time Demo Now Available, OpenBOR Fan Game Shows Early Promise

The demo for Power Rangers It’s Morphin Time is now available, marking the first public release of this passion-driven project by Brazil Mugen Team. The game is built using OpenBOR, an engine widely used for modern arcade-style beat ’em ups.

The focus is on fast, readable combat with satisfying combo potential, rather than excessive flash. Players can take control of Human, Ranger, and Megazord forms, with the experience supported by hundreds of new sprites and a soundtrack created using the Mega Drive sound chip, reinforcing its retro roots.

The developers also acknowledge Power Rangers Beats of Power, a separate fan project by Merso X. With permission to reuse select assets, It’s Morphin Time sets out to deliver a different interpretation of Power Rangers rather than compete directly.

Due to a last-minute engine issue, co-op play is disabled in the demo, making it single-player only for now. The demo is compressed for security reasons and may trigger false positives, but the team confirms the files are safe.

With early comparisons already being made to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind, the demo now lets fans decide how this new take stacks up.
