A creative modder on Reddit has transformed an old iPhone 4S into a fully functional retro gaming handheld, and it’s one of the cutest conversions we’ve seen yet. Sporting a custom metal shell with a Kirby-themed laser engraving, the modified device uses PS Vita buttons and a Bluetooth keyboard board to deliver tactile controls that bring a nostalgic charm to Apple’s classic smartphone design.
The iPhone 4S has been downgraded to iOS 6.1.3, jailbroken, and fitted with RetroArch, capable of running games up to the PlayStation 1 era. In the showcase, Kirby & The Amazing Mirror is seen running smoothly on the bright touchscreen, perfectly matching the pink Kirby aesthetic of the case.
While it might not match the performance or convenience of a Miyoo Mini, this adorable little mod stands out as a collector’s piece, blending Apple’s vintage hardware with the heart of handheld retro gaming.
