A brand-new English translation patch has just been released for Bakuretsu Muteki Bangai-O on the Nintendo 64, bringing Treasure’s explosive cult classic to a wider audience.
Originally released in Japan in 1999, Bangai-O is a chaotic side-scrolling shooter packed with screen-filling explosions, wild combo systems, and pure arcade energy. While many players outside Japan first experienced the Dreamcast version, the Nintendo 64 release remained exclusive to Japan, until now.
This new translation patch makes the N64 version fully playable in English, allowing players to join Riki and Mami as they pilot the Bangai-O mech against the infamous Tiger Gang. Expect over 40 adrenaline-fueled stages, massive EX attacks, and combo-heavy gameplay that still feels intense and unique today.
For fans of Treasure’s design philosophy and late-era Nintendo 64 imports, this is a fantastic excuse to revisit, or finally discover, one of the system’s most explosive hidden gems.
Another classic preserved, another reason to power up the N64.

I love Bangai-O so much! Still own my Dreamcast copy of the game from back in the day, and it’s cool to see the original N64 version in english now.
