A new ROM hack for the Sega Master System gives Sonic’s classic debut a surprising twist. Mario in Sonic The Hedgehog, created by PixelMarioXP, replaces Sonic with Nintendo’s plumber, complete with a new life icon, 1-up monitor, goalpost, title screen, end credits, and act result screen.
It’s a simple but fun crossover that lets players experience Green Hill Zone and beyond through Mario’s shoes.
