If you’ve been following my NFC projects for a while, you might remember that I originally shared my NFC card templates as layered PSD files. That worked fine at the time, but over the years it became pretty clear that not everyone wants to deal with complex design files just to make a simple NFC card.
NFC Card Generator exists for exactly that reason.
I built this app to make using my templates as easy and accessible as possible. Instead of opening layered files and adjusting things manually, you can now select a game, pull in artwork from services like SteamGridDB or TMDB, choose a template, and export a clean, ready-to-use card image in just a few steps. The focus is on consistency and convenience, not design perfection.
The app works especially well alongside NFC-based launch setups such as Zaparoo, where you often just want a functional card that looks good enough and works every time. It removes a lot of the small but repetitive steps that used to come with manually preparing card artwork.
In terms of availability, Windows users can download a ready-to-run executable and get started right away. macOS and Linux users will need to run the Python script directly and install the required dependencies, which are clearly listed on the GitHub project page. It’s a slightly more hands-on setup, but everything needed is documented.
It’s also important to be transparent here. Even though this article appears on Metal Game Solid, NFC Card Generator is NOT affiliated with Metal Game Solid. I co-run the site and I also built the app, but the project itself is separate and not an official Metal Game Solid product.
NFC Card Generator isn’t meant to replace creative projects or advanced customization. It’s simply a practical tool for people who want to use my templates without friction and get straight to making NFC cards.
