Nintendo Adds CRT Filter for SNES Classic Games on Switch

Misc

Nintendo has introduced a new CRT-style graphics filter for its classic game lineup on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 for nintendo switch online subscribers. This feature enhances the visual experience of Nintendo 64, and GameCube games by simulating the look of older CRT televisions.
Yesterday, Nintendo silently added this filter to the SNES classic online.

Classic games were originally designed with CRT displays in mind. When played on modern HD screens, many of these titles can appear overly sharp, blocky, or off-color. By including a built-in CRT filter, Nintendo gives players a chance to experience these games the way they were meant to be seen—no extra hardware required.

The CRT filter adds: subtle scanlines, softer image tones and slight interlacing effect.
