RetroFighters BattleDock Adds GameCube Controller Ports to Switch2 Dock

Misc

The BattleDock from Retro Fighters is an add-on that physically slides onto the official Nintendo Switch2 dock. It doesn’t replace the dock or connect as a separate unit, instead it attaches directly to it and connects over USB-C to extend its functionality.

Once attached, the BattleDock adds four wired GameCube controller ports to the existing dock. The idea is to keep the original Switch2 hardware in place while providing a simple way to use original GameCube controllers, particularly for local multiplayer or games that support that layout. Setup is plug and play, with no additional software or configuration involved.

Visually, the unit is styled after the original GameCube and includes four magnetic faceplates in classic color variants: Spice Orange, Indigo, Jet Black, and Platinum Silver. These are optional cosmetic elements and don’t affect functionality.

  1. This is a big missed opportunity, in my opinion, to only support Switch2. There have ‘only’ been ~20-25 million units sold, thus far. Why not make this a universal USB solution to add Gamecube controller compatibility to PC’s (Linux, Mac, Windows) and SteamOS (SteamDeck and the upcoming Steam Machine) just to name a few examples?
And why does the video briefly ‘highlight’ the USB ports on it, but the website shows no mention of them?
