Vectrex Mini Prototypes Revealed at Gamescom 2025

Misc

Vectrex has officially unveiled the first prototypes of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom 2025, giving fans a fresh look at one of the most unique consoles of the early 1980s in a compact new form.

The original Vectrex stood out from other systems of its time thanks to its built-in vector display, and the Mini appears to capture that same spirit on a smaller scale. Shown on the floor were working units running classic Vectrex games, alongside packaging mockups that lean heavily into retro styling.

The prototypes were paired with modern-style controllers instead of the original Vectrex joysticks, suggesting that while nostalgia is central to the design, accessibility for today’s players is also a focus.
