Wizzo, the developer behind Zaparoo, has announced a major accessibility breakthrough: the app is now fully compatible with screen readers. After extensive testing, he confirmed that the entire interface can be navigated using audio cues alone, a huge improvement over earlier builds where accessibility was almost nonexistent.
In a series of posts, Wizzo explained how surprising the process was. He expected screen readers to “just work” if the code was written correctly, but quickly discovered that accessibility requires far more explicit hints, labels and custom announcements. Improving this meant not only adding the the right attributes but rethinking how the interface communicates actions and state changes.
The update is set to arrive in the next release, and Wizzo’s long-term goal is to make Zaparoo a fully accessible interface for retro gaming. It’s a meaningful step forward for users who rely on assistive technology and a strong example of accessibility becoming a growing priority in the retro gaming scene.
