Wizzo has released Zaparoo Core v2.8.0, starting 2026 with a major stability and feature update. The most important fix resolves a critical bug that prevented hold mode from working, restoring a key part of many NFC-based setups.
This release also adds beta support for Bazzite and ChimeraOS on AMD64 and ARM64, along with EmuDeck and RetroDECK launcher support on SteamOS, including early Gaming Mode compatibility. Steam integration has been improved with automatic detection of games launched outside Zaparoo and a new option to open Steam’s game details page instead of launching directly.
Other highlights include mDNS network discovery for easy .local access, new blocking hooks for advanced scripting control, and several improvements for MiSTerFPGA, such as more flexible core locations and Neo Geo scanning fixes. Combined with numerous reader, API, and platform bug fixes, v2.8.0 is a solid and feature-rich update across the board.
