openMenu Update Brings Easier Game Management to Dreamcast ODE Users

Dreamcast

Derek Pascarella has announced a new update to openMenu, along with an updated card manager, continuing active development on one of the most user-friendly menu systems for Sega Dreamcast optical drive emulators.

In simple terms, openMenu is a replacement menu for Dreamcast ODE setups (like GDEMU). Instead of juggling folders, file names, or boot discs, openMenu gives you a clean, console-like interface where you can browse, launch, and manage your games directly from the Dreamcast itself. Think of it as turning a pile of game files on an SD card into something that feels much closer to an official system menu.

The accompanying card manager software runs on your PC and helps prepare and organize the SD card used by the ODE. It handles tasks like adding games, sorting them correctly, and making sure everything is laid out in a way that openMenu understands, removing much of the trial-and-error usually associated with Dreamcast ODE setups.
