SNK has officially released Kizuna Encounter: Super Tag Battle as the second entry in its Neo Geo Premium Selection series. Originally released in 1996 as the sequel to Savage Reign, this cult-favorite fighting game stood out for its unique tag-zone system, where players can only switch characters within designated areas on screen.
The new Premium Edition brings the title to modern platforms with rollback netcode, enhanced training tools, jukebox mode, spectator features, and even 4-player tag battles, keeping the original’s fast-paced weapon combat intact while adding much-needed quality-of-life improvements.
Kizuna Encounter: Super Tag Battle is now available on Steam, currently offered at 25% off until October 18. The European AES version remains one of the rarest Neo Geo cartridges ever produced, but thanks to this re-release, more players than ever can experience its distinctive mix of strategy and aggression. Following Real Bout Fatal Fury 2, this release continues SNK’s mission to revive its classic catalog for a new generation of fighting game fans.
