Mario Kart 64 Amped Up Receives Hotfix Update v3.01

N64 Games Romhacks

Mario Kart 64 Amped Up, the ambitious fan-made overhaul by Litronom, has just received a hotfix update bringing it to version 3.01. This follow-up patch addresses several issues reported by players after the major v3.0 release and is highly recommended for anyone encountering bugs or crashes.

Key Fixes in v3.01

  • Fixed an issue where turning off Modern Visuals in the title screen while using 3D Racers would cause glitched character models
  • Fixed zoom functionality when using the Classic Camera mode
  • Fixed a crash on real hardware caused by a sound portamento miscalculation

Adjustments and Improvements

  • Player ranks no longer update if Player 1 is currently on Lakitu’s fishing rod
  • Speedrun verification text has been made less intrusive
  • Custom menu navigation now responds to controller port 1 instead of an internal controller input, improving compatibility on some systems
  • Default settings on a fresh save or file erase have changed:
    • Boo Stealing now defaults to “Everyone”
    • Camera Mode now defaults to “Zoom+”

Recommendation

Players using version 3.0 are strongly encouraged to update to v3.01, especially if experiencing crashes or control issues. The patch maintains all core features introduced in the previous release, including custom tracks, new modes, and enhanced visuals, while improving overall stability and accessibility.
